                               GEOGRAPHY



                               Viet Nam is located on the Indochinese peninsula in Southeast Asia, with a total land area of
                               331,223.1 sq km. It is bordered by China to the North, Laos and Cambodia to the West, and the
                               East Sea to the East, and boasts 3,260 km of coastline and tens of thousands of islands,
                               including the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos.

                               The country consists of three main regions - the Northern, Central and Southern regions -
                               with distinct linguistic typology and climate.

                               Viet Nam is a tropical and monsoonal country, with an average humidity of 84% throughout
                               the year, annual rainfall from 1,200 to 3,000 mm, and annual temperatures between 5 C and

                               37 C. Due to the variety of topography - plains, lowlands, highlands, and mountains - the
                               climate varies considerably. The North enjoys four distinctive seasons, while there are only
                               two seasons - dry and wet - in the South.
