TOWARDS SUSTAINABILITY

A Resolution from the 13th Party Congress has affirmed the
role of the circular economy, green economy, and low-carbon
economy in moving Vietnam towards sustainable development.
The circular economy must have a uniform policy framework
and be designed and integrated into the national planning
strategy. It is also necessary to promote awareness and boost
the contributions of businesses and individuals to developing
the circular economy model.

FOR VIETNAM’S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

According to analysts and representatives from major
international organizations, government agencies, and
businesses attending the Vietnam Circular Economy Forum
2022, the circular economy presents an opportunity for
Vietnam to improve governance, develop institutions and
policies, promote sustainable business, and reduce
industrial pollution. To overcome the challenges in
developing a circular economy, one key solution suggested
is continuing to strengthen cooperation between the
government and the business community.

MORE THAN $14 BLN IN FDI COMES EXPORTS HOLD POTENTIAL FOR GROWTH
TO VIETNAM IN FIRST HALF

As of June 20, newly-registered capital, adjusted capital, and
capital for share purchases from foreign investors totaled
over $14.03 billion this year, or 91.1 per cent of the figure in
the same period of 2021. Though newly-registered capital is
still to fully recover from Covid-19, adjusted capital and
capital for share purchases have continued to increase
sharply, by 65.6 per cent and 41.4 per cent, respectively.

Exports continue to be an important contributor to the
growth of Vietnam’s economy and the sector performed
impressively in the first half of 2022. It is forecast that
exports will continue to see opportunities in the months to
come thanks to the free trade agreements (FTAs) Vietnam
has signed, but there are also challenges. The Ministry of
Industry and Trade (MoIT) will therefore continue to
introduce solutions to support production and business
activities and develop export markets.
