COVER STORY
Vietnam has maintained its longstanding position among
countries and territories attracting the most FDI despite
the travails of the last two years. Since the first Law on
Foreign Investment came into being in the late 1980s, the
capital source has proven invaluable for Vietnam’s
socio-economic development. A focus on quality rather
quantity has been in place for some time, and sustain-
ability is now the key buzzword. Much has been done to
facilitate foreign investment, and efforts at reform are
ongoing. While Vietnam benefits from foreign capital, it
can’t be denied that the country is also a happy hunting
ground for many foreign investors.
